Success! DC Cranes for Peace at Fun Day!

The DC Cranes for Peace activity table
was a real success. A big THANK YOU
to all the class parents and other volunteers and teachers, and of course the students and families who made the cranes that will fly to Hiroshima in the spring.

Yoko's Paper Cranes

This week, Mr Barry read us a story called
YOKO'S PAPER CRANES.
It is about a young girl (cat) who makes paper cranes with her Ojiisan (grandfather).

When she moves away, she remembers her grandfather by making paper cranes.

Look at this 1000 recycled-paper crane project!

Okay! Don't forget to bring in your property flyers now...
even if it is just one flyer.
If we all work together, we will have plenty of paper
for our cranes in no time!

This is a dress made out of 1000 recycled-paper cranes.
It is on display at the London Science Museum right now!
It's fun to make things from recycled materials!

How to make a thousand paper cranes...

We are going to fold 1000 origami paper cranes.
In the spirit of recycling, and of caring for our environment, we will make them from the flyers
that are put in our mailboxes.

Did you know?
In Japan, 1000 paper cranes strung together is called a SENBAZURU.
